Walk for Life West Coast Marks Abortion Opposition

http://www.lifenews.com/2011/01/04/seventh-walk-for-life-west-coast-marks-abortion-opposition/

Tens of thousands of people are expected to rally in downtown San Francisco to mark the 38th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision that allowed virtually unlimited abortions.

The marchers participating in the West Coast Walk for Life will then walk along San Francisco’s waterfront to show peaceful support for unborn children and their mothers because women deserve better than abortion.

The event has become the alternative to the March for Life for people who live in the western United States and don’t have the time or money to make it to Washington, D.C.for the March for Life, which annually attracts hundreds of thousands of people. The west coast version starts Saturday, January 22 at 11 a.m at the Justin Herman Plaza near the Ferry Building in downtown San Francisco.

The walk begins after a rally and continues to Marina Green in sight of the Golden Gate Bridge.

At the rally, Abby Johnson, former Planned Parenthood clinic manager will talk about her conversion to the pro-life position and leaving the abortion industry.

Mary Poirier will share her testimony of having an abortion and regretting the experience, Denise and Brian Walker, founders of Everlasting Ministries will share their pro-life perspective, and Kathleen Eaton, founder of Birth Choice Health Clinics, will talk about helping women in crisis pregnancy situations.

After the Walk for Life will be the First Annual Youth Rally at 3 p.m. at Fort Mason.

“After more than 38 years of legalized abortion, participating in the San Francisco Walk for Life West Coast allows us time to reflect on the impact abortion has had on our culture,” says Georgette Forney, the head of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign. “This walk and time of reflection will open the door for the West Coast to send the message: From sea to shining sea—American’s value life. From the unborn to their mothers to the vulnerable elderly—all life is worthy of protection and love!”

March for Life rally marks 40 years of legal abortion in Hawaii

Honolulu, HI – Hawaii Right to Life is sponsoring the 38th annual March for Life Hawaii with co-sponsors Hawaii Family Forum and Hawaii Catholic Conference. The grassroots rally is open to the public and will be held Saturday, January 22 from 10:30am to 1:30pm at the Hawaii State Capitol grounds. The event is held each year on the anniverary of the U.S. Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions, which legalized abortion throughout the United States.

Hawaii Right to Life Executive Director Janet Grace noted that Hawaii was among the first states to legalize abortion in 1970 and that the rally was established annually in the wake of the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. She remarked, “March for Life will mark 38 years since the U.S. Supreme Court's tragic decision decriminalized abortion through all nine months of pregnancy for any and all reasons. The March was started by grassroots pro-life advocates to protest this affront to justice. We believe that abortion is among the most extreme forms of injustice in America today and that over 55 million lives have been lost in the United States since 1973. That is why it is important to remember these innocent children and bring respect and dignity to their lives."

The theme for March for Life 2011 is "Celebrating Life for Generations to Come." The family oriented event will offer a keiki fun fair with educational activities designed to share the sanctity of life message. Activities will also include a sign waving, music, hula, inspirational messages, and a walk through the Capitol district. For event details, visit HRTL Facebook page.

March for Life Mini-Rally at the White House: We will have a gathering in Lafayette Park, across the street from the White House, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on January 23, 2011, the day before the March for Life. An agenda will be posted on our website as soon as it is finalized.

March for Life Rally-January 24, 2011: The location this year is the National Mall at 4th Street NW. The rally will begin at 12:00 PM and continue until about 1:30 PM, followed immediately by the March. Please dispose of your trash properly. Use the receptacles on the mall. If you can’t find a receptacle, or if the receptacles are full, please take your trash with you – do not leave it on top of, or on the ground next to, a full trash can. Do not leave trash anywhere on the mall where someone else will have to pick it up. March for Life-January 24, 2011: The March will begin immediately after the rally and follow its customary route up Constitution Avenue to the Supreme Court building on Capitol Hill. If you are returning to the Hyatt Regency or Union Station upon completion of the March, please continue past the Supreme Court building, turn left on East Capitol Street and left again on 2nd Street. That will allow you to proceed to your destination without going against the flow of marchers who are still arriving at the Supreme Court. Please do not leave your signs, or trash of any kind, on the streets or anywhere along the route of the March. Take it with you to your destination and dispose of it properly.

To honor the lives stolen by the abortion industry since 1973.

Featured Speaker - Kelly Clinger
Kelly Clinger has been singing and playing piano for many years. Once an extra on
the Mickey Mouse Club and a background vocalist for Britney Spears, Kelly turned
her life over to the Lord in 2003 after years of heartache and pain caused by the
music industry, divorce, addiction and the abortions she had in her early 20’s.

Other Events:

Bishops’ Mass of Reparation for Sins Committed Against Life will be celebrated at
the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception at 10 a.m. Jan. 22 2011

The date is the 38th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the case of Roe
v. Wade, which stated that a woman’s constitutional right to privacy extends to a woman’s
decision to have an abortion. The Mass is offered for the restoration of the right to life for all
humans from the moment of conception to natural death and prays for an end to abortion. It
will be concelebrated by Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., and Auxiliary Bishop
James D. Conley, who will serve as the homilist.

According to a 2009 Gallup poll, more Americans identify themselves as pro-life than those
who identify themselves as pro-choice by a margin of 51 percent to 42 percent. Still, with an
estimated half of all pregnancies considered “unintended,” 40 percent end in abortion
according to the Guttmacher Institute.

Following the Mass, Bishop Conley will lead a procession across the street to the steps of the
state Capitol and lead pro-lifers in recitation of the rosary. The group will remain to attend a
life rally at noon sponsored by Colorado Right to Life.

The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception is located at 1530 Logan St. in Denver.

American Right To Life hosts this handy resource at MarchForLifeFinder.com. Because of the way search engines rank web pages, often times searching for the current March in a particular city displays results for past and national events. MarchForLifeFinder.com not only makes it easier for pro-lifers to find their local event, it might also alert thousands on the fringe of the movement who might not otherwise know about, for example, an organized bus trip from their town to the big March on January 24th in Washington D.C.

American RTL fights toward a soon victory in the battle against child killing. But if not, ARTL expects to update this site annually to encourage folks to attend the national and local marches toward galvanizing their commitment to protect every child by love and by law.

"MarchForLifeFinder.com will help our efforts to end decriminalized child killing in America," said Lolita Hanks, nurse practitioner and acting president of American RTL. "As the Personhood movement sweeps across America, people everywhere are being taught about the God-given right to life and everywhere there is a March for Life, there will be a time of refreshing and encouragement for those in this epic struggle."
